Printed Matter presents the sixth annual NY Art Book Fair, from September 30 to October 2, 2011, at MoMA PS1, Long Island City, Queens. A preview will be held on the evening of Thursday, September 29th. Free and open to the public, and featuring more than 200 exhibitors, the NY Art Book Fair is the world’s premier event for artists’ books, contemporary art catalogs and monographs, art periodicals, and artist zines. Exhibitors include international presses, booksellers, antiquarian dealers, artists and independent publishers from twenty-one countries.

Parallel zur FIAC im Point Éphémère – Eintritt frei

Chaque année, le Cneai organise le Salon Light au Point Ephémère à Paris, salon dédié à la micro-édition et à la publication d’artistes. Organisé sur trois jours, en parallèle de la FIAC, le salon s’anime des interventions des éditeurs et est rythmé par un programme de tables de recherches, la parution du Journal Salon light #8 et par la remise du prix «the publisher =». Décalée, économe et audacieuse, l’approche éditoriale des participants du Salon Light reflète une volonté de repenser l’objet imprimé et sa production dans sa globalité.

Einige Arbeiten der Ausstellung zeugen vom prozessualen Spiel mit den räumlichen oder zeitlichen Möglichkeiten, andere von den Grenzerkundungen des Mediums Buch. Um die Vielschichtigkeit der vornehmlich in Vitrinen ausgestellten Exponate erfahrbar zu machen, können diese an den „Blätterabenden“ in die Hand genommen werden.

Eine wunderbare Überraschung auf dem Photobook-Festival in Kassel waren die Künstlerbücher auf dem Stand der ABC Cooperative. Von den fast 30 internationalen Künstlern von ABC konnte ich sieben persönlich kennen lernen und mir ihre Publikationen vorstellen lassen. Das Grund-Konzept der Künstler-Gruppierung ist, dass alle Bücher als Print-on-Demand-Edition herauszugeben werden, alle hervorragend gedruckt und gebunden bei blurb.

ABC-Künstler am Stand: Wil van Iersel, Mishka Henner, Joachim Schmid, Jonathan Lewis, Elisabeth Tonnard, Julie Cook und Andreas Schmidt.

Open Call for Artzines

We invite you to par­ti­cip­ate in the exhib­i­tion »I’ve Zine the Dark­ness« at dieschön­estadt gal­lery in Halle.

Send us your artzines until May 30th, 2011.

»I’ve Zine the Darkness« is an exhibition about the artzines phenomen, it’s aesthetic and political dimensions and the practise of self-publishing used by artists to spread their work.

The exhibition will take place at the dieschönestadt gallery in Halle from June 3rd to 11th, 2011. Throughout the exhibition various lectures are planned.

We will post all submissions on this website with some informations and a link to the contributors and keep you up to date with pictures, etc. After the exhibition we’ll donate all submissions to the library of the Burg Giebichenstein University of Arts and Design in Halle because we missed an artzine section when we studied there.
