Enter Prof. Dr. of Pseudology, Anna McCarthy, with her HOW TO START A REVOLUTION book and its endless footnotes and twists and turns. She explains to us the chronology of politics and personal occurrences through this haze of a microcosm.
HOW TO START A REVOLUTION is a multi-layered work that deals with clichés of rebelliousness. It is embedded in socio-political events from 2007 to 2015 and their mediated and subjective reception. It deals with rebellion in limbo, in which change seems ominent, mirroring the current political atmosphere. Geographically anchored in Munich and Bavaria, it reaches beyond the local peculiarities and relocates them into the context of historical global events. A microcosm of reoccuring people and places stand in as exemplary figures for global events in a humorous, absurd, and critical manner. Examples are documentaries such as 'Bored Rebel in Oberpfaffenhofen' or ridiculously provocative political actions in public spaces, numerous "in-flux" archives, a pathetic musical, which was first performed in 2013 at Haus der Kunst, and even a permanent installation in Tito’s ex-Bunker in the hills of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The project has been exhibited internationally, including at Nottingham Gallery for Contemporary Art, Chisenhale Gallery London, Schloss Ringenberg, Galleribox Akureyri Iceland, Goethe University Frankfurt, D-0 Ark Underground, Konjic, and at Transmission Gallery in Glasgow, amongst other locations. ...

Am 27.06.2020, zeitgleich zur Ausstellungseröffnung (im Apartment der Kunst, München), veröffentlicht Delfrati sein Debütalbum Beresheet, „eine elektronische Geschichte in fünf Akten“. Jedem dieser fünf Kapitel liegt eine Emotion zugrunde (Verzweiflung, Wut, Resignation, Ehrgeiz, Akzeptanz), die den Wahlmünchner überkommt, wenn er an ungreifbare Dinge wie den Klimawandel, Massensterben oder das Internet denkt, also Konzepte, die Zeit, Raum und das Vorstellungsvermögen des Menschen weit übersteigen. „Hyperobjekte“ nennt der US-amerikanische Philosoph Timothy Morton solche Konzepte und Delfratis Theorie zufolge könnten auch Bärtierchen als solche „Hyperobjekte“ gelten. So widmet er Morton den Album-Opener.

Janina Totzauers künstlerische Praxis dreht sich um
die Frage, wie wir unserer Existenz in einer Zeit der stetigen Gefährdung unseres Lebensraumes einen Sinn geben. Die sisyphos-artigen Performances kreisen zum einen um den absurdistischen Konflikt, aus welchem vermeintlich als einzig logische Konsequenz der Genuss der Sinnlosigkeit selbst als Sinn für die Menschheit entspringt. Zum anderen nähren sich ihre Videos, dem wissenschaftlichen Ansatz zuwider, stets von den unterschiedlichsten anekdotischen Überlieferungen, welche von jeher das Sein und den Sinn des Menschen zu erklären versuchen. ... Das Buch dokumentiert Felix Burgers Ausstellungsprojekt »Medizinisch Psychologische Untersuchung« in Brutus, Rotterdam von 05.04.-23.06.2024.
Burger verwandelte den ehemaligen Industriekomplex in eine Wunderkammer voll absurder Weltentwürfe. Singende Puppen, verwaiste Zirkusartisten, kleine Männer, sprechende Hunde, belehrende Eisbären und debile Priester besetzten das Gebäude. Die fast 5000qm große Ausstellungsfläche wurde zum begehbaren Bühnenbild und in sich geschlossenem Mikrokosmos. Neben seinem monografischen Werk wurden auch Kollaborationen mit Lion Bischof, Böhler & Orendt und Otakar Skala, Sophia Süßmilch gezeigt.
The book documents Felix Burger’s exhibition project »Medizinisch Psychologische Untersuchung« in Brutus, Rotterdam from April 5 to June 23, 2024.
Burger transformed the former industrial complex into a chamber of wonders full of absurd world concepts. Singing puppets, orphaned circus performers, little men, talking dogs, lecturing polar bears and moronic priests occupied the building. The almost 5000 square meter exhibition space became a walk-in stage set and a self-contained microcosm. In addition to his monographic work, collaborations with Lion Bischof, Böhler & Orendt and Otakar Skala, Sophia Süßmilch were also shown.

Thomas Zacharias, ehemaliger Präsident der Münchner Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Buchautor, Illustrator, Kunsthistoriker und Fotograf hat sich über Jahrzehnte mit der Sprache der Hände auseinander gesetzt.
