Laut ARTBASE Jan 2001 ist dies die erste Zusammenstellung bildender Künstler überhaupt! Die Herausgeber stellen auf der ersten Seite fest, dass "jeder für seinen eigenen Beitrag verantwortlich ist" und dass "es keine Zensur oder Auswahl gab". Diese Regeln wurden zur Grundlage dessen, was viele Dichter/Künstler als das Fundament der Assembling-Publikationen betrachteten, obwohl es immer wieder Andersdenkende gab und gibt. Fast alle Mitwirkenden waren Deutsche. Die Seiten dieser Zeitschrift bestehen aus unterschiedlichem Papier und farbigem Material, das die unredigierten Beiträge widerspiegelt. Die Zeitschrift wurde jedoch nicht "Assembling" genannt und war wahrscheinlich nicht die erste, die ein unredigiertes Format verwendete, wie man an früheren Zeitschriften dieser Art im Sackner-Archiv erkennen kann. Sie war jedoch wahrscheinlich die erste, die die Regeln formulierte.

I wanted to show how cars appear in typical street view, which is rarely the subject of photographs. Cars are usually avoided in photography - one waits until a car has exited a view. The ordinary presence of cars is rarely worthy of representation. It's always the special car, or the extreme traffic jam or, of course, the exciting crash that is being pictured. The Cars pays tribute to the shapes and forms we look at every day. How much time we spend with them, sitting inside them, the endless hours we stare at a dashboard. Even if we don't own a car ourselves, their presence is unavoidable. Cars are everywhere. Their sheer number is the most crazy thing about them. They appear in our lives with excessive omnipresence. In their volume cars intrude upon public space, and the way they occupy streets and open areas is rarely challenged.

Wie viel Zeit wir mit ihnen verbringen, in ihnen sitzen, die endlosen Stunden, die wir auf ein Armaturenbrett starren. Auch wenn wir selbst kein Auto besitzen, ist ihre Anwesenheit unvermeidlich. Autos sind überall. Ihre schiere Anzahl ist das Verrückteste an ihnen. Sie tauchen in unserem Leben mit übermäßiger Allgegenwart auf. In ihrer Masse dringen Autos in den öffentlichen Raum ein, und die Art und Weise, wie sie Straßen und Freiflächen besetzen, wird selten in Frage gestellt.

British artist Anna McCarthy lives and works in Munich. She studied at the Glasgow School of Art and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. McCarthy’s work combines paintings, drawings, installations, performances, music and film. She has exhibited in numerous international art institutions and museums, among them Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland, Shedhalle Zürich and at the Schaustelle, Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. In 2013 she premiered the musical “How To Start A Revolution” at Haus der Kunst in Munich. The long-running multimedia project of the same title analyses the cliché of “the rebel” in a critical and humorous fashion. She attracted equal attention with her performative presentation: „Heute Nachmittag: Als wir noch an was glaubten“ (eng. It was only this afternoon that we still believed in something) as part of 1914/2014: Die Neuvermessung Europas. (Remeasuring Europe). In 2015 she was awarded a fellowship at the Villa Aurora, Los Angeles.

This book aims to collect and present a comprehensive overview of the work of Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt. It is the result of a long and intense immersion into her archive, and intends to establish the importance of this unique artist – who did not have much recognition in the past – not only to the present day, but also to the precise political context and time to which she and her work belong.
The book presents her typewritings series, all produced between the early 1970s (some of the earliest works are dated 1972) and 1989.
Mail Art was her way to be in contact with the world outside the GDR, otherwise impossible to reach. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Reunification, the artist stopped producing any art: She felt her involvement was no longer “needed”.
At the beginning of 2015 we started to archive Ruth Wolf- Rehfeldt’s work, discovering little by little an enormous and fascinating body of work, composed by more classic poetry, simple typewriting texts, visual poetry, concrete poetry, and abstraction.

And colour, of course, with the issue based on the national colours of Burkina Faso, paying tribute to the idea of culture as a shared ground to build upon.

An all-encompassing approach that makes the Belgian’s work outstand as a natural successor of the German Bauhaus and Russian Constructivism, but with a more human touch.
The catalogue features a wide selection of images, presenting the many different stages of transformation of a drawing into a three-dimensional piece, and the hybrid nature of the exhibition set-up, a mix of a museum show and an artist’s studio, both essential characteristics of Zoete’s art."

The thickness, amount of pages, and content won’t depend on me but on the public. A book that functions as a bridge that connects people, ideas, ways of distribution and collaboration. The answers that are sent back to us before the end of the show, will be arranged into a growing bookwork inside of the exhibition space. Books are Bridges. Always under construction.
