´Lightears´ is the long awaited debut album by Berlin duo Leo Mars. After a year of trial and error, a lot of sessions, sound collecting and analysation of possibilities a precisely crafted, yet astonishingly free floating album came to life. In times of almost infinite sounds, instruments and styles it took the duo some time to come up with the basic material, form a language and then of course learn to speak it. Hours were spent in the studio and their favourite lebanese restaurant discussing the world of sound.
´Lightears´ intelligently smudges the borders between a classic drone, an underground noise, a playful improvisation and an old fashion musique concrete record. All the genres fall into place rather unpretentious with pure sound excitingly assembled to challenge ones listening habits.
It is a rather harsh production always bouncing back and forth between digital, crisp electronics and field recordings pushed way over the edge.
With minimal gear and set up Leo Mars managed to manoveur themselves somewhere inbetween a bedroom thrashing noise keyboard project and a theoratical paper score composer duo. Performing in a trance - allowing things to happen - awaken - making a conscious decision - slipping back into space

Modul-dance presents a collection of modul-dance city guides. Each of the guides in this collection shows a city from the viewpoint of a local artist, who proposes his or her own particular route to artists in transit, seeking to put them in connection with their host city. While these city routes share some basic features, each one is different and in their differences lies a wealth of gazes, aesthetics, approximations to the local and much more. In a word, they form a mirror of the diversity that modul-dance has always fostered. "A Set of Lines, A Stack of Paper" is the second in a series of exhibitions and publication based on a wide-reaching research about writing with the title 'Possible Content for 18 Pages'. The original typewritten manuscript of Vilém Flusser's essay 'The Gesture of Writing' provides the thematic and formal-aesthetic foundation for reflecting the act of writing at the intersection of linguistic, visual, physical and spatial communication. 'To write,' says the philosopher about the basic requirements that should lead to a complete piece of writing, we need 'a blank surface, for instance a white leaf of paper, an instrument which contains a matter that contrasts with the whiteness of the paper, the letters of the alphabet, the convention which gives a meaning to the letters, 'orthography' = correct writing, the rules which order that language, what is called 'grammar', an idea to be expressed in a language, and a motive to express that idea'. Understanding the act of writing as a culturally embedded gesture, 'A Set of Lines, A Stack of Paper' covers artistic, literary, as well as curatorial and editorial fields of action and combines them. The book is published on the occasion of the correspondent exhibition at KARST, Plymouth (June 5 - July 5, 2015). The publication comprises an exhibition documentation with installation views and a curatorial statement. Furthermore, the author Maria Fusco situates the concept of the exhibition in an actual context of literature.
The participating visual artists expand the topic of the exhibition with artistic contributions especially made for the book.

Oversized ‘promises’ in the form of real estate advertisements are promoting the new city along the lines of global real estate and living standards. ‘The perfect union to all you desire’ and ‘We believe luxury is best served in small quantities’ first seen along Varthur Road in Whitefield, Bangalore, caught my attention. The second one leaves a particularly ironic, tangy, protestant-flavoured impression, seen from the German point of view.
Questions emerged about the Indian caste system, the sense of community, modesty and personal goals.
The design of this urbanity also reminds me of earlier journeys to the United Arab Emirates and Shanghai. The new urbanity becomes exchangeable, custom-tailored and its ‘ultra-luxurious villas’ accessible ‘for the chosen few’ of the Pepsi Generation.
But what happens to the majority of a city’s population and its needs, uncertain ownership and neglect of basic amenities? Can it withstand the pressure flashed on every corner of the city? Do these promises affect social cohesion? ...

Während seiner Arbeit im Museumsshop zeichnet der Künstler und Lyriker Kyrill Constantinides Tank auf postkartengroße Schmierzettel, was ihm in den Sinn oder vor die Augen kommt. Die Zeichnungen betitelt er mit „Der neue Kollege“, „wie mich meine Chefin sieht, wenn ich sauer bin“, oder „Daniel Richter verliert den Draht zur Jugend“. Sie bilden Szenen des Arbeitsalltags im Museum ab oder Ideen, auf die man nur dort kommt und erzählen aus dem Leben des Künstlers zwischen Lohnarbeit und künstlerischem Schaffen. Doch nicht nur seinen subjektiven Blick, sondern auch das höchst Allgemeine bringt Constantinides Tank zu Papier: Garfield, Twipsy, Glurak und die Simpsons sind für alle da und wurden genauso schon unzählige Male gezeichnet. Wenn auf der Zeichnung ein Pflaster klebt, oder sie, wie etwa bei „Fidget-Spinner Drawing“ – offensichtlich das Ergebnis eines Versuchs, mithilfe eines Fidget Spinners zu zeichnen – zum technischen Experiment wird, dann lässt sich erahnen, dass der Autor ganz in der Malerei zuhause ist und sich gleichzeitig mit ihren Möglichkeiten und Grenzen auseinandersetzt. Indem er sie zeichnet, bezwingt Kyrill Constantinides Tank, in der Tradition einer bayrischen Antibürgerlichkeit, die Dämonen und Banalitäten des Alltags, der Massenmedien und der Kunstgeschichte.
Kyrill Constantinides Tank ist Künstler, Dichter und Mitarbeiter in einer Filiale der Buchhandlung Walther König. Er ist Preisträger des 26. Open Mike in der Sparte Lyrik und lebt in München.

The frescoes of the Villa di Livia, the wife of Emperor Augustus, which can be seen in the Museo Palazzo Massimo in Rome, form the basic motif for the video PASSING THE GARDEN. These approximately two thousand years old frescoes show an illusionistic garden space, a "hortus conclusus" with representations of plants, trees and birds.
Photographs, videos and drawings of the frescoes are intertwined with photographs and videos of intact and destroyed nature. What seems natural at first glance turns out to be artificially generated. Slowly, the images change their state, moving between reality and fiction.
Experimental, meditative music accompanies the transformation process.

... Unter dem Thema „WHITEOUT 2“ präsentiert die NEUE GRUPPE eine Werkschau, die als „WHITEOUT“ 2018 in der Halle 50 in München gezeigt wurde. Es bezeichnet ein meteorologisches Phänomen, das bei schneebedecktem Boden und gedämpftem Sonnenlicht in der visuellen Wahrnehmung zu einer extremen Kontrastverringerung zwischen Himmel und Erde
führt, so dass das gesamte Blickfeld gleichmäßig hell erscheint. Konturen oder Schatten sind nicht mehr erkennbar und der Beobachter hat das Gefühl, sich in einem leeren, weißen, unendlich ausgedehnten Raum zu befinden.
Diesem visuellen Konzept folgen in unterschiedlichen Variationen die Werke der Künstlerinnen und Künstler des Künstlerverbandes NEUE GRUPPE die wir hiermit herzlich begrüßen. Es ist mir eine besondere Freude, diese Ausstellung in Wiederaufnahme einer bewährten Tradition eröffnen zu dürfen und verbinde damit die Zuversicht, dass auch künftig die künstlerischen Beziehungen zwischen Regensburg und München neu belebt werden. ...

Im Rahmen eines Projekts haben zwei Studentinnen der Hochschule Macromedia eine Kampagne mit dem Titel “#Sexismisntsexy” für die Landeshauptstadt München erstellt. Bei der Kampagne handelt es sich um eine crossmediale Kommunikations- und Aufklärungskampagne. Die Motivation dahinter ist es, auf Sexismus in der Werbung aufmerksam zu machen und zu zeigen, dass nicht nur Werbung herausstechen kann, die sich nach dem Motto “Sex sells” richtet. Im Vordergrund steht die Sensibilisierung des Themas und die Vermeidung zukünftiger sexistischer Werbung, als Zeichen der Stadt München.

G. X. Jupitter-Larsen wurde 1959 in Denver, Colorado, geboren. In den späten 1970er Jahre zog er nach Vancouver, Kanada. Dort begann er seine Aktivitäten in dem Mail Art Network und anderen Underground-Szenen. Er war beteiligt an Punk-Rock-, Kassetten- und Zine-Kultur sowie an der koordinierten Pawel Petasz' Commonpress Editions während der Zeit des polnischen Kriegsrechts von 1981 bis 1989. Bei seinen Auftritten ist er für seinen Nihilismus bekannt, als Gründer von The Haters, praktizierte er live Hardcore-Noise und brachte Noise-Musik auf über 300 Platten und CDs heraus. Bei seinen Auftritten (oft mit einer Gummimaske) arbeitete er mit einem Winkelschleifer an Gummireifen, die über dem Publikum hingen. In den 1990er Jahren arbeitete er als Sounddesigner für Mark Paulines Survival Research Laboratories. Er drehte Filme und Videoarbeiten, veröffentlichte drei Romane und produzierte viele Stunden Radio. G. X. Jupitter-Larsen lebt heute in Hollywood, Kalifornien.
